Warning: Live Birth Recorded

What you are about to see is me holding our camera and capturing on video Jason delivering the baby:

So Dr. Mendez asked Jason if he wanted to deliver the baby and Jason said that he thought that I wanted him to stay by me. I told Jason that since it was our last baby, I thought that he should do the honors of delivering him too. The epidural was working really well and I couldn't feel a thing. So I asked him to hand me the camera so that I could take pictures of him during delivery. The camera was accidentally set to video (which apparently is prohibited during delivery) and this is what I got.

Twas The Night Before Delivery

Kasyn and Teig are already for bed and are kissing me goodbye before I go into the hospital to have the baby.
This was the last picture of the four together of us before we left for the hospital to welcome the fifth.
The hospital that I had the baby at was really great. Jason works at it and it is only two lights away from our house. Also, you get to deliver the baby in the same room that you keep for the whole time you are there for post-partem.
This picture I am showing because none of my family has ever seen me at full term. My mom and dad came out a day early just so that she could see me fully pregnant. With Kasyn and Teig, they had came a couple of days after and my stomach had already started to flatten. We decided to induce so that Jason could schedule time off from work and so that my parents could be there to watch the kids for us.
I got to the hospital at 9:30 at night and was scheduled to be there at 8:00, but there was too much going on to get there on time. When the nurse checked my cervix, she said that I wasn't dilated to a one yet and was only 50% effaced. So they had to put this thing on my cervix called cervasil to help progress it. They said that it would take 12 hours for it to work and they didn't put it on until 1:00 a.m. I asked Jason if it hurt and he assured me that it wouldn't. I should've known not to trust a male with no cervix because about 20 minutes into it being in me, I had such horrible pains. Then it felt like I had a really bad stomach ache and every time I got up to try and use the bathroom, I couldn't get anything out (in other words...contractions). About 45 minutes into it, my teeth started chattering and I was shaking vehemently because the pain was so intense.
I called the nurse to see if I could take anything for the pain and she told me that it would stop the progression, but she could give me a sleeping pill instead (Ambien). I'm sure she just thought that I was a druggy. Of course with being in excruciating pain, the sleeping pill did not work at all and I continued getting up every 15 minutes to go to the bathroom. By 3 a.m. she came in and agreed to give me something to numb the pain but warned me that it would slow down my progression drastically. I didn't care because the pain was so horrible. The pain medication worked a little and at around 5 a.m. I finally drifted off to sleep. But then at 6 a.m., it's apparently shift change because I was awoken by a new nurse named Kara who told me she would be with me throughout the day. I told her that the pain was getting worse and that I wanted to know if I could take anything. She said in order to give me anything, she would have to check my cervix, to which I readily agreed to. She was surprised to see that I had dilated to a 7 and was 100% effaced. She immediately pulled out the cervasil and said I could start on the petocen. In five hours, I had gone from not being dilated at all to a 7, I don't think that they were prepared for it to work as well as it did. By 9 a.m., I had an epidural and was dilated to a 9. Everything was moving along really fast from what they told me (no kidding). She came back in to check on me at 10:15 to 10:30 and the babies head was already crowning. My O.B. wasn't available and so Dr. Mendez said that he would deliver me.
When he got to the room he immediately said hello to Jason. Apparently Jason had known him from when he was a med student doing rotations. Things were finally starting to look up.

Another Field Trip

Kasyn's preschool did another field trip to an indoor field sports warehouse. They had all sorts of inflatables and the best part was that you could take other siblings too.

Kids are fearless when they are little. That was such a steep slide.

Kasyn and Teig wanted to slide down at the same time to see who got down the quickest.

They had a really great inflatable obstacle course and if I weren't pregnant, I would have played in there with them too.

A Disney On Ice Surprise

The month before I was due to have the baby, I decided that I wanted to do something special with the four of us. Being winter and pregnant, this was what I came up with. The week before we went, I kept telling the kids that I had a big surprise for them and that we were goint to take them somewhere they had never been. Unfortunately, I didn't check with Jason first and after I had purchased the tickets, he told me he was scheduled to work that night. So it was just huge, pregnant me and the kids, off to the surprise.

The kids were thrilled to see all of the characters from Disney movies that they had seen. Even now, Kasyn still talks about and asks when we are going to take them to another Disney On Ice surprise.

It was a lot of fun, but next time I am going to remember to check Jason's schedule so he can join in the fun too.

Let It Snow

When we originally moved to Ohio the first two years, there was only two really bad snow storms each year. Now, its like it never stops snowing during winter. There were a lot of records set here this year in the snowfall category. You can tell why and this was after a week of it trying to melt.

Owed To My Corolla

Well, I just wanted to get one last picture of my favorite little car before we had to trade it in (sniff, sniff). We originally bought this car in Las Vegas right before I had Teig knowing that we were done having kids and that it would be the perfect car for our family of four. I remember a couple of days after we bought it, someone keyed across the hood of it and also on all of the doors. It was awful to think that someone would do that to something that we had worked so hard for. When we found out that we were pregnant again, I tried really hard to fit three car seats across the back seat and no matter what combination I tried, I just couldn't get all three to fit, so we opted for an SUV over a minivan.

Teig The Magna Doodle Artist

Teig drew this great picture of a rocketship equipped with astronauts inside. The two circles are planets and the other thing at the top is the moon. I remember he kept saying 3, 2, 1...blast off.

Teig's First Trip To The Dentist

I know that I have written before about how we go to our appointments for the free toothbrushes, but my kids have started getting a collection of them. Each time one of us goes, they always offer everyone a toothbrush if the kids are good. Kasyn already has six toothbrushes that she has collected and Teig has three. Now they are trying to get one of each color.

The Coveted Wii

I know that you can't tell by the close-ups, but the kids had to clean up before the could start playing. So now every night before bed, they get about 15 - 20 minutes of Wii time.

On Christmas Day In The Morning

Kasyn and Teig are peeking over the stairs to see what Santa brought for them.
We usually take turns opening presents, I love to see how excited they get for each other when it comes time to open another present.

We are finally up to date with the new century gaming world. We got the coveted "Wii". My kids had no idea what it even was until we decided to open it. Ever since we got it, we have been able to use it as leverage to get the kids to help us clean up if the want to play it.
Our annual family picture in front of the Christmas tree. It's going to be fun to look back and see all of the pictures from past Christmases in front of the tree.

Trying To Get Back Into It

So here I am, about six months out from my last post. There is a lot that has happened in the last six months and so I am going to still try and keep the posts in order from January going forward. I know it will take some time for me to actually catch up, but hopefully I will be on my way to a more updated blog. Here goes something...
