Jungle Jacks's Landing Amusement Park

We decided to take the kids to the zoo on another one of Jason's Monday's off and kind of got off track and ended up at Jungle Jack's Landing. For those that don't know, it is at the beginning of the zoo and has rides for kids and adults. The lines hardly had anyone in them (because it was raining that day) and the kids really wanted to go and so we couldn't resist.

This was one of the more scary rides at the park. Jason and I were shaking in our shoes when we saw the train, it had to have had at least six trailers that it pulled. Talk about thrilling!

This was some sort of frog jumper ride and bounced high in the air and then came close to the ground. Kasyn loved it and Teig was white knuckled and shaking the whole time he was on it.

This is probably the only ride that we can endure that goes around in a circle, every other ride including the swing, makes us really sick to our stomachs. Overall, it was really fun to be able to take the kids and do something different with them and I think that they both liked it enough to try it again next year when they are a little bit more tall and can get on some bigger rides.

A Visit To Slate Run Historical Farm

This was a great living farm to visit. Well equipped with all types of farm life.

I'm so happy that my kids aren't afraid to be around animals. They love being able to pet animals.

Oh what I wouldn't give for a tree swing in our yard. Apparently they only come with farm houses dating back to the late 1800's and big oak trees from the same era.

They loved swinging with Jason (I think he liked it more than they did).

We got to pump water from a well and fill the barrell up with it. Once it was filled, they took it to their garden and would use a tin cup to pour over the vegetable plants.

The people who work on the farm are all volunteers and even dress in that time periods clothing. They only use what was available then, so no motorized tractors.

Oh I only hope that this stage in their lives will last a while longer, I love when they hold hands.

What a cute little frog. Jason tried really hard to convince me to let him bring home a couple of tadpoles for the kids because of the "educational" value of it, but I told him wasn't ready for one. Maybe next year.

The Wilds

Who would have thought that Ohio would have such a cool Serengeti-ish place as this? We have been lucky this month to have Jason home with us on Mondays (he just has to be "available") if there are any questions and so we have been trying to make the most of our Mondays with him. I have been hearing about this place for the last few years and I am happy to say that we finally made it there. We absolutely loved this experience. These animals are some of the most endangered and almost extinct animals in the world and they bring them here to try and breed and increase their chances of survival.

This was one of the stops on our tour, we got to feel different types of horns and antlers and feel different furs that the animals had shed. Look at this endangered Teiger that we came across.

These are actually some type of "wild horses" and are extremely endangered. They sometimes stay on the road and wait till the buses get close enough to rub up against them.

These camels never leave this spot. They tour guide said that they found this spot and haven't left it since.

I think that thekids liked having them so close to our bus.

There are over 10,000 acres of land for these animals (but only 700 acres are actually used), they said that over time as they expand, they can use the extra acres and add on to it.

These are white rhino's and that was one of the cutest little baby rhinos, they actually had three babies that we got to see.

I'm glad that we didn't make any animals sick. Whew!

Especially these cheetahs. They were sisters, but I bet we would have made a great meal for them. The guide said that they fast every Monday to simulate their wildlife diets.

So if you are ever in Ohio, I would definitely recommend this place. I loved the fact that the animals had so much land to roam on. It was a great family day trip.

Swimming Lessons

Kasyn just started her first swim lessons on Wednesday. My little girl is getting so big. She did everything that her teacher asked her to do and when she asked her to jump from the edge of the pool to her teacher, she did it. In the past when I have tried that, it didn't work very well, but for a complete stranger to do it she has no problems with it....the nerve.
